wHEN i THINK...i tHANK

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving 2023. I am at work finishing up several things that I want to clear off my mind before I leave. Several staff are already out for the holiday so there are just a couple of people in the building. I was sitting here recounting how good God is. I intentionally wrote down 6 or 7 things that I was thanking God for. It didn't take me long for the first three, but I really dug deeper to go past the things that are STILL ON THE ALTAR, you know the things that sometime weigh so heavily on your mind that you cannot see the blessing around the corner or how God is even going to pull it off.

That's what's so good about God. He does not need to give us an agenda or a play by play of how he plans to do it. Our job is to simply TRUST that he will and to THANK him in the meantime. Our job is to BELIEVE who HE is and whose WE are. Our job is to STAND STILL AND KNOW that he is God. He was God when he gave his son for our sins. He was God when he made provision when there was none. He was God just this morning when he allowed our head to rise from a pillow on a bed, in a room, in a house we call our own.

How often do we intentionally just step into His presence for the sole purpose of loving on Him with thanksgiving and praise for WHO He is and who He created us to be. No matter what it looks like, find a reason to express gratitude to God. Inside of your praises and thanksgiving, His joy becomes contagious and He lifts you above the drama so that you can see Him clearly working on your behalf. Here are five reasons to get you started:

  1. God gave us His greatest gift, salvation through relationship with His son (John 3:16).

  2. He answers our prayers (John 11:41).

  3. He provides for our every need (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).

  4. He showers us with blessings (Philippians 4:6).

  5. He protects and keeps us (Psalm 91).

Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! May God richly bless you and keep you! Safe travels if you are on the road.
